Double-decker bus brings British charm to Lexington - Featured Today - Kentucky.com

Tim Hart and Robin Atwell are toying with ideas for their recent acquisitions — two double-decker buses.

The British-made vehicles — a 1955 Bristol Lodekka and a 1958 open-top Leyland Park Royal — make up the fleet of Hart and Atwell's new business venture called Commonwealth Doubledeckers.

The refurbished red and cream-colored Lodekka has already been out and about on Lexington streets for over a month now, taking groups to destinations like The Dame and Lynagh's. The open-top bus might be out by late summer...

Commonwealth Double Deckers (CDD), located in Lexington, Kentucky is a sightseeing company that offers sightseers a competitively priced, yet different approach to the common tours that are offered within the Lexington area via an English double-decker bus.
CDD provides sightseeing tours of the Kentucky Horse Park,Keenland Horse Farms, Distilleries & Downtown and surrounding areas. CDD buses may also be used for weddings, graduations, birthday and tail-gating parties.

Management

Timothy Hart grew up in Shelbyville Tennessee, Walking Horse Capital of the World, and has a strong knowledge base of equestrian events and the needs of its patrons. He assisted his family in managing a NAPA auto parts store, and has provided maintenance for family and friends vehicles as well as his own. Timothy has lived in the Lexington area for 5 years and worked for Woodland Tree Care for 4 years, doing tree management for the state capital grounds as well as horse farms in the Lexington and surrounding areas. This occupation gives Timothy skills in establishing safe routes for the buses, as well as assisting clients in accommodating buses on their farms and facilities as appropriate. In addition, this Timothy has very valuable experience in managing heavy equipment and trucks. Timothy hopes to befriended Lexington's business owners, local restaurants and establishments who are also very interested in the success of CDD in order that they can use the buses for advertisements and catering opportunities.

Robin Atwell has lived in Lexington all of her life. She has worked as an occupational therapist for nine years, including management of rehabilitation programs as well as managing her private practice. Before becoming an OT, Robin worked for many years in the food and beverage industry in Lexington. In addition, she was a DJ for UK’s student run public radio station in the early nineties, and has been actively engaged in the music and arts community in Lexington for twenty years.
